Roy E. Corkadel, Jr. of Holland, PA passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2016. He was 81.
Born in West Grove, PA to the late Roy E. and Agnes Corkadel, Roy resided in Doylestown, PA for 43 years before moving to Holland, PA two years ago.
Roy received a Bachelor of Arts in Education from West Chester University and his Master’s Degree from Villanova University. He was formerly employed as a school counselor with the Abington School District for 25 years, retiring in 1993. He was a Chief Negotiator and Contract Specialist with the Abington Education Association (AEA). Roy also served on the PSEA Board of Directors and was active in the National Education Association (NEA).
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of West Chester, PA, US Army National Guard, and member of the Doylestown Presbyterian Church. Roy enjoyed a lifetime of fly fishing and was an accomplished fly tyer. He loved to travel and frequented the National Parks and Florida. He was a dynamic salesman and enjoyed buying and selling antiques. More recently, Roy volunteered his skills at Grandma’s Attic at Twining Village. He was passionate about the arts and appreciated the Philadelphia Ballet, Riverside Theatre and the Philadelphia Orchestra. He was also proud to be a lifelong Democrat.
Roy was a loving and dedicated family man to Ann L. Corkadel and their four daughters, Louise Watkins and husband Bill, Lorraine Gross, Laura Dill, Lydia Pfeiffer and husband Johan, and nine grandchildren. He was the oldest of nine children and is survived by four brothers and three sisters.
A memorial service will be held at the Doylestown Presbyterian Church, 127 E. Court Street, Doylestown, PA 18901 on Friday, September 23rd at 1 pm.
